11 78 510 Replacing oxygen control sensors (N20)

Special tools required:

11 7 030
11 4 260 .

WARNING: Risk of burning.

Work should only be carried out on an exhaust system that has cooled down.

Installation note:

The threads of new oxygen control sensors are already coated with NEVER-SEEZ COMPOUND .

If an oxygen control sensor is to be reused, apply a thin and even coating of NEVER-SEEZ compound to the thread only.

Sensor ceramics not cleaned and not coated with lubricant.

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove ACOUSTIC COVER .

Disconnect plug connection on oxygen control sensor (1).

Installation note:

Cable color of oxygen control sensor = black.

Cable color of oxygen monitoring sensor = grey.

Installation note:

A suitable extension (1) is needed for the screw connection of the oxygen control sensor.

IMPORTANT: When using special tool 11 4 260 , it is essential to reduce the prescribed tightening torque by 3 Nm.

Release oxygen control sensor (2) with special tool 11 4 260 with a suitable extension (1).

Tightening torque 11 78 1AZ .

Reassemble the vehicle.

Check function of DME.
