18 40 020 Removing and installing/replacing right exhaust manifold (S63T 0)

Special tools required: 

• 2 249 161

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Remove left TURBOCHARGER .
• Remove right TURBOCHARGER .
• Remove ALTERNATOR

Release screws (1).

Tightening torque 11 65 5AZ .

Release screws (1).

Tightening torque 11 65 5AZ .

Remove heat shield (2).

Release screws (1).

Tightening torque 11 65 7AZ .

Remove heat shield (2) on left and right.

Release screws with spacer sleeves (1 to 8).

Remove exhaust manifold, bank 2.

Installation note: 

Replace gasket.

Release screws with spacer sleeves (1 to 8).

Remove exhaust manifold, bank 1.

Installation note: 

Replace gasket.

Installation note: 

Replace gasket (1) for banks 1 and 2.

Seal beads faces the exhaust manifold.

Position universal bank exhaust manifold, bank 1.

Screw in special tool 2 249 161 at position (3 and 4).

Tightening torque: 11 62 1AZ .

Join screws with spacer sleeves (1 to 2) to 10 Nm.

Remove special tool 2 249 161 and insert screws with spacer sleeves at position (3 and 4) and join to 10 Nm.

Insert screws with spacer sleeves at position (5 to 8). Secure all screws with spacer sleeves (1 to 8).

Tightening torque: 11 62 2AZ .

Position universal bank exhaust manifold, bank 2.

Screw in special tool 2 249 161 at position (3 and 4).

Tightening torque: 11 62 1AZ .

Join screws with spacer sleeves (1 to 2) to 10 Nm.

Remove special tool 2 249 161 and insert screws with spacer sleeves at position (3 and 4) and join to 10 Nm.

Insert screws with spacer sleeves at position (5 to 8).

Secure all screws with spacer sleeves (1 to 8).

Tightening torque: 11 62 2AZ .

Replace gaskets (1).

Assemble engine.
