18 00 018 Removing and refitting complete exhaust system (N47 D20 O 1 with SCR)
Special tools required:
- 31 2 220
Only carry out this repair work when the exhaust system has cooled down.
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- REMOVE MONITORING SENSOR .
- Remove EXHAUST TEMPERATURE SENSOR on nitrogen oxide catalytic converter.
- Remove rear UNDERBODY PROTECTION .
Support exhaust system with jack and special tool 31 2 220 or other suitable special tool and secure against falling down.
Release screws (1).
Remove underbody panelling (2).
Release bolts along line (1).
Remove cover from below rear silencer.
Release clamp (1).
If necessary, replace clamp.
Part: Clamp
Tightening torque 18 31 2AZ .
Slacken nut (1).
Tightening torque 18 20 4AZ .
Release clamp (1).
Tightening torque 18 31 7AZ .
Pull metering unit (2) out of the exhaust system and tie to one side.
Do not disconnect pipes.
If fitted:
Release screws (1).
Tightening torque 18 20 6AZ .
Remove reinforcement plate (2).
Detach the diesel particulate sensor (1) and place to one side.
Tightening torque
Detach nitrogen oxide sensor (2) downstream of SCR catalytic converter and place to one side.
Tightening torque
Release nut and remove holder (1).
Tightening torque 18 31 3AZ .
Unfasten nut.
Tightening torque 18 20 4AZ .
Slacken nut (1).
Tightening torque 18 20 4AZ .
Lower and remove exhaust system with assistance of a second person.
Installation note:
Check exhaust system for leaks.
