13 62 620 Removing and refitting/replacing nitrogen oxide sensor (N47 D20 O 1 with SCR)

Only perform this repair work on an engine that has cooled down.

Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Read out the fault memory of the DDE control unit.
- Switch off ignition.
- Remove front UNDERBODY PROTECTION .
- Remove rear UNDERBODY PROTECTION .
Release clamp (1).
Tightening torque 18 31 7AZ .
Detach metering module (2) from the exhaust system and place to one side.
Do not loosen or disconnect pipes.
Unlock connector (1) and pull off.
Unfasten screws (2).
Tightening torque 13 62 13AZ .
Release cable from clips (1).
Detach nitrogen oxide sensor (1) and remove from exhaust system.
Tightening torque 13 62 8AZ .
Maneuver out nitrogen oxide sensor and control unit for nitrogen oxide sensor and remove.
IMPORTANT:
When unscrewing the nitrogen oxide sensor take care that the lead is not damaged.
After the repair work has been completed:
Use the BMW Diagnosis System to perform the SCR adjustment.

Installation note:
Check stored error/fault messages.
Clear diagnostic fault entries from fault memory.
