41 21 201 Replace B-Pillar With Reinforcement On Left

Follow procedures for REPAIR STAGE 3 .

Read contents of BODY, GENERAL .

Use only approved SPOT-WELDING APPARATUS for repairs.

Place vehicle on straightening bench.

The following new body parts are required:

(1) Outer side frame
(2) Middle side frame
(3) Inner side member
Shaped part B-pillar, outer front
Shaped part B-pillar, outer rear

Removal:

Mark severance cuts in accordance with specified dimensions and cut.

IMPORTANT: Cut outer panel only for following severance cuts.
Dimension "a" = approx. 90 mm after centerpoint of 20 mm dia. hole.
Dimension "b" = approx. 90 mm before centerpoint of 20 mm dia. hole.
Dimension "c" = approx. 160 mm from edge of roof frame.
Open welded connections in areas (1).
Release B-pillar from cavity sealings (2) and remove.

Mark severance cut (1) as shown and carry out.

Measurement "a" = approx. 20 mm from component edge.

Release side sill section (2) from cavity sealings (3) and remove.

Remove cavity sealings (3).

Installation note:

The side sill section (2) can be reused if it is not damaged. For severance cut (1), prepare REINFORCEMENT PLATES .

Mark severance cut in accordance with specified dimension and cut.

IMPORTANT: With the following severance cut, only sever the outer panel.
Dimension "a" = approx. 40 mm below previous severance cut.
Open welded connections in areas (1) and remove B-pillar reinforcement.

Preparation of new part:

Mark severance cuts on new parts in accordance with severance cuts on vehicle and cut.

Prepare REINFORCEMENT PLATES at severance cuts.

Section of inner side member:

Mark severance cut on new part in accordance with severance cut on vehicle +15 mm for extra material and cut.

Adjust new parts and reinforcements plates with alignment bracket or universal mount.

NOTE: When adjusting, due to the absence of an outer skin, it is necessary to place a panel of equal thickness in the area of the door hinges.

Installation:

Install B-pillar reinforcement and reinforcement plate with alignment bracket or universal fixture and weld in areas (1).

NOTE: When installing the B-pillar reinforcement new part, the panel thickness of the missing B-pillar outer skin must be taken into consideration depending on the straightening system manufacturer.

Apply sealant to CAVITY SEALINGS (1).

Install new part and reinforcement plate and weld (2).

Install side sill section and weld in area (1).

(2) Severance cut on the vehicle
