72 12 000 Removing and installing or replacing airbag module on front passenger side

A damaged airbag must be replaced because its protective function is compromised or, in an extreme situation, it can no longer execute its protective function.

Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Disconnect BATTERY EARTH LEAD
- Remove GLOVE BOX WITH HOUSING
Release screws from holder.
NOTE:
The holder does not have to be removed to access the front screws on the airbag module.
Unfasten plug connection (2) and disconnect.
Release screw (1).
Swing control unit out of rubber mount and feed out.
Unlock PLUG CONNECTION (1) and disconnect.
Release all screws on airbag module.
Tightening torque 72 12 01AZ .
Remove airbag module from dashboard.
