11 15 016 Removing and installing/replacing engine ventilation connecting line

Observe any relevant notes in the applicable BMW parts catalogue.

If necessary, individually replace broken connectors (connections) without having to replace all engine ventilation lines.

Nominal size for the connectors of the connection line: NW12

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

Version 1: 

IMPORTANT:

Increased risk of breakage of the connecting line (2)

Use a screwdriver (1) to unlock all the latch mechanisms one after the other.

Pull off the connection line (2) at the same time.

Version 2: 

Unlock the connector (1) and simultaneously pull it off the connecting line (2).

Version 1: 

IMPORTANT:

Increased risk of breakage of the connecting line (2)

Use a screwdriver (1) to unlock all the latch mechanisms one after the other.

Pull off the connection line (2) at the same time.

Feed out the connection line (2) and remove.

Version 2: 

Unlock the connector (1) and simultaneously pull it off the connecting line (2).

Version 1: 

NOTE:

No catches (1) are permitted to be damaged or missing.

Replace the connector if the latch mechanism (1) is faulty (work is described below in "Replacing connectors").

Version 2: 

NOTE:

Connector (1) must not be damaged.

Replace any faulty connectors (1) (work is described below in "Replacing connectors").

Replacing connectors: 

NOTE: Mark the connector towards the connecting line (1) prior to disassembly of the connector (connection to cylinder head cover).

Release lock (2).

Remove lock (1).

Pull off the connector (1) from the connecting line.

Make sure the O-rings (1) and (2) have been installed correctly.

Check the O-rings (1) and (2) for damage.

Coat the O-rings (1) and (2) using lubricant (part no. 83 19 9 407 771)  .

Connect the connector (1) to the connecting line.

Part:  Connector nominal size 12.

Position the lock (1).

Align the connector and connecting line (1) with each other.

Completely press in the lock (1).

Make sure the lock (1) engages audibly.
