63 31... Removing and installing/replacing fibre optic conductor of rear door trim panel, storage compartment

Special tools required:

WARNING: Fibre optic conductors are sensitive (risk of damage). Always handle carefully.

Necessary preliminary tasks

Remove rear door trim panel. See 51 42 000 REMOVING AND INSTALLING LEFT OR RIGHT REAR DOOR TRIM PANEL .
Work station with cleaner working surface

Fibre optic conductor in storage compartment

Remove LED module (3) in direction of arrow from bracket (2).
Carefully pull LED module (3) from fibre optic conductor (1).

IMPORTANT: Use suitable protector (2) to avoid damaging the storage compartment.

Pull out fibre optic conductor (1) with special tool 64 1 020 and unclip.

IMPORTANT: (Risk of fibre optic conductor (1) breaking!)

Pull downward
Turn downward towards rear side of storage compartment

Fold straight up
Feed out and remove

Installation:

Check fibre optic conductor (1) for damage (scratches or cracks), replace if necessary.
