Activating the fanfares
The fanfares are activated as follows depending on the series:
- Example F01, F10:
The horn switch is directly connected to the steering column switch cluster. The switch switches to ground when pressure is applied to the horn switch. The switch signal is processed in the steering column switch cluster (SZL) and transmitted to the central gateway module (ZGM) as message on the FlexRay. The central gateway module (ZGM) places the message on the K-CAN2. The junction box electronics (JBE) is a bus user on the K-CAN2.
According to the signal evaluation, the junction box electronics (JBE) now takes over the relay activation for the fanfares.
- Example F15:
The horn switch is directly connected to the steering column switch cluster. The steering column switch cluster is not a control unit.
The switch switches to ground when pressure is applied to the horn switch. The switch signal is processed in the steering column switch cluster and transmitted to the Body Domain Controller (BDC) as a message on the local interconnect network bus.
According to the signal evaluation, the Body Domain Controller (BDC) takes over the relay activation for the fanfares.
- Example F25
The horn switch is directly connected to the steering column switch cluster. The steering column switch cluster is not a control unit.
The switch switches to ground when pressure is applied to the horn switch. The switch signal is processed in the steering column switch cluster and transmitted to the junction box electronics as a message on the LIN bus.
According to the signal evaluation, the junction box electronics (JBE) now takes over the relay activation for the fanfares.
- Example F20, F30:
The horn switch is directly connected to the steering column switch cluster. The steering column switch cluster is not a control unit.
The switch switches to ground when pressure is applied to the horn switch. The switch signal is processed in the steering column switch cluster and transmitted to the front electronic module (FEM) as a message on the LIN bus.
The Front Electronic Module (FEM) takes over the relay activation for the fanfares according to the signal evaluation.
The air horns are available for operation at all switch positions starting with Terminal 15 ON.
Vehicle equipment with alarm system: Depending on the series, the software of the alarm system is integrated into the roof function center (FZD) or into the siren with tilt alarm sensor (SINE). Thus, the roof function center (FZD) or the siren with tilt alarm sensor (SINE) controls the alarm system. In the normal case, for an DWA alarm, the acoustic alarm output is output via an independent emergency power siren. If this is not possible in the event of a malfunction, the roof function center (FZD) or the siren with tilt alarm sensor (SINE) outputs the request for activation of the fanfares on the bus. Possible malfunction situation: e.g. emergency power siren faulty or line disconnection (LIN bus) between emergency power siren with tilt sensor and roof function center (FZD).
