51 45 031 Replacing instrument panel trim

Special tools required:

When working on trim panel components, make sure that the sensitive surfaces are not scratched or damaged.

Necessary preliminary tasks

NOTE: Operation is illustrated with item in fitted position.

Unclip trim (1) with special tool 00 9 325 from latch mechanisms and remove upwards.

Installation :

Marked retaining lugs must not be damaged.

Release screws (1).

Remove tweeter (2) in upward direction.

Release screws (1).

Remove speaker (2).

Disconnect plug connection underneath and remove speaker (2).

Unclip and change over air ducts (1) on left and right.

Installation:

Make sure air ducts (1) are correctly seated.

Unclip and change over front defroster outlets (1) on left and right.

Unclip and change over front defroster outlet covers (2) on left and right.

Change over remaining fixings (3).

If necessary, replace resilient sealing tape for VIN number inspection window.
