- Prior to each use, check the special tools for defects, modifications and operational reliability.
- Damaged/modified special tools must not be used.
- No changes or modifications may be made to the special tools.
- Keep special tools dry, clean and free of grease.
IMPORTANT:
Before lifting the engine, check the lifting lugs for damage (cracks) and to ensure they are seated securely.
NOTE:
- Numbering system for special tools has been re-encoded.
IMPORTANT:
Special tool 00 6 000 must not be fitted when cross-member (1) is installed.
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- SECURING ENGINE COMPARTMENT LID IN SERVICE POSITION .
- Remove underbody protection at front and rear. See UNDERBODY PROTECTION (FRONT) and UNDERBODY PROTECTION (REAR) .
- Remove TRIM PANEL for engine compartment lid at side
- Remove acoustic cover. See IGNITION COIL COVER (N52) , IGNITION COIL COVER (N55) , or IGNITION COIL COVER (N55 HYBRID) .
Assemble transverse member 00 6 000 with special tools 00 6 002 00 6 004, 00 6 010, 00 6 050.

Assemble traverse member with special tool 00 6 050.

NOTE:
Contact points (1) for special tool 00 6 050 are pictured.
Position transverse member with a 2nd person helping on contact points (1).
IMPORTANT:
Before lifting the engine, check the lifting lugs for damage (cracks) and to ensure they are seated securely.
Screw towing hook (1) into engine block.
Align cross-member so that spindle is correctly positioned over towing hook.
Secure chain to the spindle and suspend from towing hook (1).
WARNING:
Danger of injury.
Tighten down all screws and nuts on transverse member 00 6 000.
Tighten down all screws and nuts on transverse member 00 6 000.
IMPORTANT:
Avoid a change of engine position in the transverse or longitudinal direction.
Always make sure there is sufficient clearance between the engine (or its add-on parts) and the body.

Release bolts (1) on engine mount.
Raise engine approx. 10 mm with cross member.
IMPORTANT:
Observe installation note.
To ensure play between engine mount and engine support arm, lower the engine completely before tightening the screw connection (engine mount/engine support arm).
Tightening torque 22 11 2AZ .
