67 62... Notes on initializing power windows

NOTE: An initialization must be performed:

In the event of malfunctions: e.g. one-touch function (automatic mode) for closing not possible, convenient closing not possible, door window glass reversed without trapping
After the power window regulator drive or footwell module has been replaced.
After work is carried out on the power window mechanism

NOTE: Initialization is performed on the power window switch of the relevant door.

Initialization comprises:

An automatic operation for teaching in the power window regulator by the diagnosis system (normalization, learning of characteristic curve)
And a manual operation for teaching in the power window regulator (teaching in the stiff movement due to the gasket)

WARNING: There is no anti-trap mechanism during initialization.

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Vehicle stationary
Sufficient battery voltage available/connect charger if necessary
Terminal "15" switched on
All doors closed

IMPORTANT: If the door window glass reverses at top dead center when the diagnosis command "Initialize power windows" is executed, i.e. travels back at top dead center , the soft top must be opened and the automatic operation repeated.

But then the soft top must be closed when the manual operation is carried out.

Automatic operation:

Select and start service function (testing procedure) "Initialize power windows" on diagnosis device.
Selection via:
- Body
- Locking and security functions
- Power window regulator
- Initialize power window regulators
Execute automatic procedure for teaching in power window regulator. (The respective door window glass opens and closes. Top and bottom dead centers are taught in.)
Do not terminate service function.

Manual operation:

In this operation it is necessary to place the power window regulator in panic mode to teach in the stiff movement due to the gasket.
Simulate exit from the vehicle:
- Entry through the driver's door
- Remove ignition key
Simulate entry into the vehicle:
- Open and fully close driver's door
- Insert ignition key and turn on ignition
Fully open door window glass (which is being initialized).
WARNING: Danger of injury!

The Panic mode function is activated in this operation, This means that the door window glass is closed without an active anti-trap mechanism.

Pull and hold power window switch in 2nd stage and have the door window glass reverse in the position shown.
Immediately after reversing, release the switch, remove hand from the door window glass area and pull the switch straight away into position 2 again. Keep the switch pulled until the door window glass is fully closed.
Remove ignition key and exit vehicle.
Continue the service function on the diagnosis system. The Sleep command is sent from the diagnosis system to the footwell module.
