51 16 240 Removing and installing/replacing rear storage box

Special tools required: 

• 00 9 317 .

Necessary preliminary tasks:

• Remove SIDE CARPET FROM STORAGE COMPARTMENT  on left and right.
• Remove CENTRE CONSOLE COVER (GEAR SELECTOR SWITCH) .
• Remove AV CONNECTING SOCKET COVER .
• Version with rear-cabin monitor:

  Remove COVER FROM REAR CABIN MONITOR AT FRONT .

• Version with eject box:

  Remove EJECT BOX .

Version without rear cabin monitor: 

Lever cover (1) out of center console in the direction of arrow with special tool 00 9 317 .

Installation note: 

Replace faulty clamps (2).

Release left and right screws (1).

Release screws (1) and raise storage box (2).

If necessary, disconnect plug connection for STORAGE BOX LED .

Remove storage box (2).

Replacement: 

Remove CENTRE ARMREST FROM STORAGE COMPARTMENT  on left and right.

If necessary, remove STORAGE BOX LED .

Replacement before 05/2011: 

Break out ribs (1) with pliers.
