12 41 020 Removing and installing/replacing starter (N63): Notes

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Switch off ignition
• Disconnect battery negative lead, see 61 20 900 DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING BATTERY NEGATIVE LEAD .
• Remove right engine support arm  , see 22 11 100 REPLACING RIGHT ENGINE SUPPORT ARM (N63) .

Unlock plug (1) and remove.

Slacken nut (2).

Tightening torque 12 42 2AZ, see 12 42 WIRES TO STARTER .

Detach starter positive cable.

Release screws (1).

Tightening torque12 41 1AZ, see 12 41 STARTER MOTOR WITH MOUNTING .

Disengage cable (2) from holder.

Pull out starter in direction of travel, feed out and remove.
