51 71... Seal the units compartment partition wall at the top center (version to 10/2012)

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove gasket (1) for engine compartment lid.

Release screws (2, 4).

Remove partition wall (3).

If necessary, remove butyl residue from the body.

NOTE: A modified partition wall (1) was installed from version 10/2012.

The modified partition wall can be identified by the additional drainage channels (2).

When using the modified partition wall, they must not be sealed with butyl.

Remove sponge rubber seal or butyl residue from area (1).

Press protruding sponge rubber seal back into the joints (1) or cut it off.

Installation note:

Prepare 2 pieces of butyl rope 6-7 mm in dia. and 10 cm long.

Seal joints (1) with butyl rope.

Installation note:

Apply butyl rope in area (1) along the component edge.

Compress the butyl rope evenly when inserting the partition wall.

Tighten down screws.

Reassemble the vehicle.
