13 53 158 Removing and installing/replacing pressure accumulator of fuel injection system (N47 D20 O1)

IMPORTANT: When working on the oil, coolant or fuel circuit, you must protect the alternator against dirt contamination.
Cover alternator with suitable materials.
Failure to comply with this procedure may result in an alternator malfunction.

Necessary preliminary work: 

Recycling: 

Catch and dispose of escaping fuel.

Observe country-specific waste disposal regulations.

Unlock plug (1) from pressure control valve and detach.

Unlock return line (2) from pressure accumulator and disconnect.

Unlock plug from pressure sensor (3) and detach.

Release screws (1).

Remove pressure accumulator.

Assembly sequence, high-pressure system:

  1. Insert pressure accumulator.
  2. Provisionally fasten all high pressure lines.
  3. Clip pressure accumulator mountings and screw down.
  4. Tighten down high pressure lines on injectors.

    Tightening torque: 13 53 2AZ .

  5. Tighten down high pressure lines on pressure accumulator.

    Tightening torque: 13 53 2AZ .

  6. Tighten down high pressure line on high pressure pump.

    Tightening torque: 13 53 2AZ .

Assemble engine.

Vent fuel system via BMW diagnosis system.

Check fuel system for leak tightness.
