51 46 050 Removing and installing/replacing top cover on tail panel

Special tools required: 

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

Undo screw (1), release expanding rivets (2) and remove storage compartment.

Detach trim panel (1) from clip (2).

Pull trim panel (1) inward slightly and release expanding rivet (3).

Installation note: 

Renew faulty clip (2) and expanding rivet (3).

Make sure edge protection (4) is correctly seated.

NOTE: Carry out work on the right side in the same way as for the left side illustrated here.

Release screw (1).

Detach trim panel (2) from clips (3).

Pull trim panel for roof pillar (5) inward slightly and feed out trim panel (2).

Installation note: 

Replace faulty clips (3).

Make sure edge protection (4) is correctly seated.

NOTE: Carry out work on the right side in the same way as for the left side illustrated here.

Lift out cover (1) with special tool 00 9 325 .

Release screws (1) on left/right.

Release screws (1).

Detach edge guard for rear lid (2) in marked area of cover (1).

Lever off cover (1) straight up from retaining clips (2).

Installation note: 

Replace faulty retaining clips (2).

Retainers for tail panel (arrow) cover must not be damaged.
