51 34 191 Replacing left or right fixed door window in rear window frame

Special tools required: 

• 51 3 220

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Remove SIDE WINDOW 
• Remove REAR WEATHER STRIP 
• Remove RUBBER WINDOW SEAL FOR DOOR WINDOW 

Release screws (1).

Carefully feed out cover (2) upward over window frame (1).

Remove clamps (1).

Installation note: 

If necessary, replace faulty clamps (1).

Fit straight blade with adjustable roller (Sourcing Reference: BMW Parts Department) on tool and set dimension (X).

Adjust dimension (X) differently according to different position of adhesive bead, refer to Fig 5

Tape off door window glass and sheet metal flange all round with fabric adhesive tape (1) (e.g. Tesa).

Adjust blade thrust roller differently in areas (A) to (E) (risk of damage).

2. 16 mm
3. 16 mm
4. 45 mm
5. 20-35 mm

Carefully cut in corner points.

Attach new frame (1) to door window (2).

Following parts on frame (1) must not be damaged or missing:

1. 3 Spacer (Z-direction)
2. 4 Spacer (X-direction)
3. 5 Spacer (Y-direction)
4. 6 Latch mechanism

Remove remnants of (1) frame catch.

Installation note: 

Seal (2) must be fitted.

Overview of door window bonding, fixed, rear (F25): 

Cut	A - A
a  [mm] = Position adhesive bead	1.5 ±1/along socket contour
b  [mm] = Width adhesive bead	8 ±2
h  [mm] = Height adhesive bead	13 +2/-1

1 = Bead joint

Carefully position door window (1) with special tool 51 3 220 at bottom first, align sideways and insert latch mechanisms (2) in mountings (3).

Assemble vehicle immediately after installing door window.

If adhesive has hardened, covers can no longer be fitted.
