51 12 156 Removing and installing rear bumper panel

Partially release cover on wheel arch (2) left and right:

Replace expanding rivet (1).

Unclip the cover (2) on the bumper, starting from the top (see arrows).

Installation note: 

Remove expanding rivet (1).

Release left and right screws (3).

Undo screws (1) on bumper panel (2).

Release screws (1) on bumper panel (2) on the left and right.

Use a helper to unclip the bumper panel (2) left and right. Unclip up to rear light, moving outward (see arrows) from the guide (see next operation).

Use a helper to unclip the bumper trim panel (2) in the highlighted areas (1), pulling away from the guide.

Only with Park Distance Control (PDC): 

Disconnect all plug connections from the ultrasonic sensors.

Remove the bumper panel (2).

Installation note: 

Retaining tabs on the bumper panel (2) must not be damaged.
