51 45 075 Removing and installing/replacing support for dashboard

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

Installation: 

Make sure wiring harnesses/cable ducts are correctly routed and secured.

Release screw (1) on bulkhead in engine compartment.

Tightening torque 51 71 5AZ .

Release right screw (1) on heating and air-conditioning unit (2).

Tightening torque 51 71 6AZ .

Release nuts (1) on right on support (2).

Tightening torque 51 71 5AZ .

Detach wiring harness (3) from support (2).

Remove upper screw (1) from support (2) on heating and air-conditioning unit

Tightening torque 64 11 6AZ .

Release screw (1) from CAS control unit(2).

Remove CAS control unit (2).

Remove left nut (1) from support (2).

Tightening torque 51 71 5AZ .

NOTE: Lower instrument panel trim partially shown.

Detach left footwell heating duct (1) in area (2) in direction of arrow.

Detach left footwell heating duct (1) with adapter (3) from heater/air conditioner and remove in direction of arrow from left rear compartment heating duct (4).

Installation: 

Make sure retainer (2) is correctly seated on left footwell heating duct (1).

Insert footwell heating duct (1) with adapter (3) in rear compartment heating duct (4).

Attach footwell heating duct (1) in area (4) to heater/air conditioner. Make sure assembly is locked exactly at point (5).

Secure steering column against falling out.

Release screw (1) on steering column.

Tightening torque 32 31 2AZ .

Carefully place steering column onto seat and secure from twisting.

Release left screw (1) on heating and air-conditioning unit (2).

Tightening torque 51 71 6AZ .

NOTE: For better clarity view is shown from above and through frond window (area of steering column).

Release screws (1) on support (2) from bracket (3).

Tightening torque 51 71 4AZ .

Detach support (2) and remove from vehicle with assistance of a second person.
