51 41 000 Removing and installing (replacing) front left or right door trim panel

Special tools required: 

• 00 9 317

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Remove DECORATIVE STRIP FROM DOOR TRIM PANEL .

Unclip trim on triangular mirror section (1) and disconnect plug connection behind.

Unfasten screws (2).

Tightening torque 51 41 1AZ .

Carefully lever out door trim panel (3) 00 9 317 with special tool.

Lift off door trim panel upwards.

Disengage Bowden cable (1) for release lever first at counter support (2) and then at door lock (3).

Disconnect all plug connections and remove door trim panel.

Installation: 

If necessary, replace clips (1).

If necessary, replace clip (2) with foam insulation.

Installation: 

After assembling the door trim panel proceed as follows:

• Open side window
• Lock with ignition key
• Check for ease-of-movement on locking knob linkage
• If necessary, align linkage

Replacement: 

• Remove switch for power window. See REMOVING POWER WINDOW SWITCH (DRIVER'S SIDE) or REPLACING FRONT PASSENGER POWER WINDOW SWITCH .
• Remove LED for door opener at inside front, rear and front door trim panel light. See REPLACING LED FOR FRONT DOOR TRIM PANEL LIGHT (LEFT OR RIGHT) and REPLACING LED FOR FRONT INSIDE DOOR OPENER (LEFT OR RIGHT) .
• Remove FOOTWELL LIGHT .
• Remove SPEAKER TRIM FROM DOOR TRIM PANEL .
• Remove INSIDE DOOR OPENER IN FRONT DOOR .
• Remove OPERATING UNIT FOR SUPPLEMENTARY SEAT FUNCTIONS .
