51 00... Engine compartment lid service position (active up to 09/2011)

Special tools required:

WARNING: Risk of injury and damage!
Engine compartment lid must be held by a second person helping.

NOTE: The operation is described on the left side; proceed in the same way for the right side.

Unlock retaining clip (1).

Unclip gas pressure spring (2) in direction of arrow from ball stud (3).

Unlock retaining clip (4).

Remove resetter (5) on hinge at top.

Pull off top section (1) of gas spring strut (2) towards top.

Push special tool 51 2 240 over gas strut (1).

Clip ball socket of special tool 51 2 240 onto ball stud (2).
