13 53 180 Replacing pressure line between high pressure pump and pressure accumulator (N57 D30 O/T/S 1)
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Read out the fault memory of the DDE control unit.
- Switch off ignition.
- Disconnect and connect INTAKE AIR MANIFOLD .
IMPORTANT:
When working on the fuel circuit, you must protect the alternator against dirt contamination.
Cover alternator with suitable materials.
Failure to comply with this procedure may result in an alternator malfunction.

IMPORTANT:
After the engine has stopped, wait at least 1 minute before releasing the high pressure lines.
After disconnecting the pressure line, it is absolutely essential to seal the openings in the high-pressure pump and the high-pressure accumulator with protective caps.

Recycling:
Catch and dispose of escaping fuel.
Observe country-specific waste disposal regulations.
Release union nuts (1) on high-pressure pump.
Release union nuts (1) on pressure line.
Remove rubber mount (2).
Partially release glow plug lines (3).
Feed out pressure lines and remove.
Installation note:
Note installation position of rubber mount (4).
Observe tightening sequence.
Installation note:
- Install pressure lines and tighten hand-tight on both sides.
- First tighten pressure lines at pressure accumulator.
Tightening torque 13 53 2AZ .
- Then apply pressure line to high pressure pump.
Tightening torque 13 53 2AZ .
Installation note:
Pay attention to installation position of rubber mount and abrasion protection on pressure line.
Assemble engine.
Check fuel system for tightness.
