WARNING: Danger of injury!
Observe following instructions relating to special tool:

Prior to each use, check the special tools for defects, modifications and operational reliability.
Damaged/modified special tools must not be used!
No changes or modifications may be made to the special tools!
Keep special tools dry, clean and free of grease.

IMPORTANT: Before lifting the engine, check the lifting lugs for damage (cracks) and to ensure they are seated securely.

NOTE:

Numbering system for special tools has been re-encoded.

Necessary preliminary work

Secure ENGINE COMPARTMENT LID IN SERVICE POSITION
Remove Intake Silencer Housing. See 13 71 000 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING THE INTAKE SILENCER HOUSING (N54, N54T) .

Only on E92, E93:

Unclip two protective caps (1) on left and right of side wall screw connection with special tool 64 1 020 .

Installation note:

Replace damaged protective caps.

Assemble cross-member 00 6 000 with special tools:

00 6 051 (profile strips)
00 6 070 (supports)
00 6 052 (supports)
00 6 031 (connections) complete.

NOTE: Use towing hook (72 15 8 108 670).

IMPORTANT: Avoid a change of engine position in the transverse or longitudinal direction.
Always make sure there is sufficient clearance between the engine (or its add-on parts) and the body.

Release front screws (1) on acoustic cover (2).

Tightening torque: 11 12 7AZ .

Raise acoustic cover (1) slightly.

Screw in towing hook (2) and tighten down to approx. 30 Nm.

Release screw (1) on front panel (2).

Tightening torque: 41 33 1AZ .

IMPORTANT: Risk of damage!
Fit cross-member 00 6 000 with a 2nd person helping.
Place supports in front in the area of front panel screw connection and in the rear on the screw connections of the side walls.
Screw connections of cross-member 00 6 001 must point to windscreen.

Adapt bevel of special tool 00 6 052 to inclination of side wall.

Special tool 00 6 070 consists of a left and right support.

Secure chain with hook 00 6 080 to spindle 00 6 002 and align centrally over front engine suspension lug.

Attach special tool to towing hook.

WARNING: Danger of injury!
Tighten down all adjusting screws and nuts on cross-member 00 6 000 .

Unscrew nuts (1).

Raise engine approx. 10 mm with cross-member.

Installation note:

Replace self-locking nuts.

Tightening torque: 22 11 2AZ .
