11 78 610 Replacing oxygen monitoring sensors (N20, N26)

Work should only be carried out on an exhaust system that has cooled down.

Necessary preliminary work:
- Remove catalytic converter . See 18 32 050 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING CATALYTIC CONVERTER (N20) or 18 32 050 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING CATALYTIC CONVERTER (N26) .
Installation note:
The threads of new oxygen monitoring sensors are already coated with NEVER SEEZ COMPOUND 4.3 .
If a lambda monitoring sensor is to be reused, apply a thin and even coating of Never. Seez Compound to the thread only.
Sensor ceramics must not be cleaned and not be coated with lubricant.
Disconnect plug connection on lambda monitoring sensor (1).
Installation note:
Cable color of oxygen control sensor = black.
Cable color of oxygen monitoring sensor = grey.
Release oxygen monitoring sensor with special tool 11 7 030.
Tightening torque 11 78 2AZ .
Reassemble the vehicle.
Check function of DME.
