51 12 157 Replace rear bumper panel
IMPORTANT:
To guarantee system function on vehicles with LANE CHANGE WARNING SENSOR
:
Follow the further instructions according to painting manual.
- there must be no mechanical damage (e.g. dents) and no body repair work with filler or painting (several coats) must be carried out in a 10 cm radius about the left or right sensor on the bumper panel
- no stickers must be attached in the area of the sensor
Follow the further instructions according to painting manual.
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove BUMPER PANEL
- Remount the cover for the towing eye
- If necessary, punch HOLES FOR ULTRASONIC SENSORS
- If necessary, install HOLDER FOR ULTRASONIC SENSORS
- Remount rear reflectors . See 63 14 120 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING REAR REFLECTOR (UNTIL 05/2013) or 63 14 140 REPLACING REAR REFLECTOR (FROM 05/2013) .
F80/F82 only:
- Remount the cover on the rear bumper trim panel.
- Remount the non-contact tailgate opening.
Execution with PDC:
Unlock retaining tabs (1) in direction of arrow and pull ultrasonic sensor (2) up and out of bracket (3).
Installation note:
Before installing the ultrasonic sensor (2), clean the plug connections.
Retaining tabs (1) must not be damaged!
Only for F80/F82:
Loosen clamps (1).
Release the air duct (2) at latch mechanisms (3) and remove.
NOTE:
Carry out work on the left side in the same way as for the right side illustrated here.
Only for F80/F82:
