17 11 035 Removing and installing/replacing fan cowl with electric fan (N55)

Necessary preliminary work:

Read out fault memory of DME control unit.
Switch off ignition.
Remove UNDERBODY PROTECTION
Remove intake port. See 13..... REMOVING INTAKE PORT (N55) .

Unclip Bowden cable for engine compartment lid actuator from transverse reinforcement (1).

Detach A/C line from bracket.

Release screws on left and right sides. Tightening torque: 51 71 4AZ .

Remove transverse reinforcement (1).

Unlock connector (1) and remove.

Pull pressure pipe (1) out of bracket (2).

Press lock (1).

Raise fan cowl (2) until holder (3) can be folded into center of vehicle.

NOTE: For reasons of clarity, graphic and text show coolant hose removed.
Do not raise fan cowl by fan wheel.

Press lock (1).

Feed out fan cowl (2) towards top and remove.

Installation note:

Insert retaining tab (1) at bottom on module carrier.

NOTE: Check stored fault messages.
Reassemble the vehicle.
Delete fault memory.
