Troubleshooting on the camshaft

  1. Remove cylinder head cover.
  2. Pin crankshaft and camshaft and check whether the camshaft is locked (maximum of 0.6° play permissible).
  3. Check if camshaft movement is stiff; remove suspect bearing caps.
  4. Examine camshaft and bearing caps for signs of abrasion.
