51 71 447 Removing and installing or replacing trim panel for cover on left or right side member

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

NOTE: Open doors.

Release screws (1).

Unclip the trim panel for the cover on the side member in direction of arrow and remove.

Installation note: 

Make sure cover is correctly seated on side member.

Installation note: 

Protective film on rear door post for preventing paint abrasion between side frame and trim for cover on side member must not be missing or damaged.

Foil strip is slightly bent in area (1) and must not project over edge (2).
