52 24 010 Removing and installing/replacing backrest

Necessary preliminary tasks 

• Remove REAR SEAT .
• Release LOCK  on backrest (emergency actuation).

Release screws (1).

Tightening torque 52 24 01AZ .

Tilt backrest forwards and lift backrest with guides (2) out of partition wall.

Installation: 

Make sure guides (2) on left and right are correctly seated in partition wall.

Remove head restraints  . See 52 24 388 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING REAR MIDDLE HEAD RESTRAINT  or 52 24 390 REMOVING AND INSTALLING OR REPLACING LEFT OR RIGHT REAR HEAD RESTRAINT .

Cover door sill with protective cover (risk of damage).

Lift out backrest and feed out of seat belts.
