11 44 000 Removing and installing, sealing or replacing oil/water heat exchanger (M57T2)

Necessary preliminary tasks 

IMPORTANT: Risk of damage: 
Protect alternator with suitable apparatus against engine oil.

Recycling: 

Catch and dispose of drained coolant.

Catch and dispose of escaping engine oil.

Observe country-specific waste-disposal regulations.

Release screws (1).

Remove oil-to-water heat exchanger (2) from oil filter housing (3).

Installation: 

Clean sealing surfaces.

Replace all profile seals.

IMPORTANT: It is absolutely essential to carry out an engine oil service to prevent coolant from mixing with the engine oil.

Assemble engine.
