Removal & Installation

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2004 BMW 745i, 2004 BMW 745Li, 2003 BMW 745i, 2003 BMW 745Li, and 2002 BMW 745i. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Move steering column to "bottom" and "extended" position.
  2. Remove front panel of steering column cover. See STEERING COLUMN COVER (FRONT PANEL)  .
  3. Remove instrument panel cover (1). See Fig 1 .
  4. Lever out caps (1). Unfasten screws. See Fig 2 .
  5. Remove upper section of steering column cover with a firm jerk in direction of instrument panel. See Fig 3 .
  6. Installation is reverse of removal. Lock (1) must engage in hooks (2). See Fig 4 .
  7. Fit new expanding nuts.
