51 45 031 Replacing instrument panel trim

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

Unclip trims for heater controls (1) and (2) and remove in direction of arrow from instrument panel trim (3).

Installation: 

Make sure upper guides (4) are correctly positioned.

Press locks (1) and remove retaining frame for socket housing (2) in direction of arrow from instrument panel trim (3).

Version with switch for front passenger airbag deactivation only: 

Press catches (1) and remove switch for front passenger airbag deactivation (3) in direction of arrow out of instrument panel trim (2).

Installation: 

Make sure switch for front passenger airbag deactivation (3) is in correct installation position (plug connection (4) at top).

NOTE: Version with switch for front passenger airbag deactivation only:
  • If necessary, saw out missing opening using a body saw.
  • Carry over dimensions for opening from fitted instrument panel trim.

Unscrew bolt (1).

Remove complete three-part air duct (2) in direction of arrow from instrument panel trim (3).

Installation: 

Make sure complete three-part air duct (2) is correctly seated in mountings (4).

Installation: 

Make sure side air ducts (1) and (2) are correctly seated in middle air duct (3).

Unscrew nuts (1).

Remove frame for front passenger airbag (2) in direction of arrow from instrument panel trim (3).

Release screws (1).

Remove frame (2) in direction of arrow from instrument panel trim (3).

Remove all metal nuts (1) and retainers (2) from instrument panel trim (3).
