There are 2 motors for the central locking system built into each door lock (high-speed motors with connected step-down gearing). The motors set the locking mechanism. In addition there is a Hall sensor as a door contact in each door lock. The Hall sensor detects whether the rotary latch is open or closed.
In addition to the door contact, the driver's door lock contains two further Hall sensors. The two Hall sensors are electronic lock contacts. The Hall sensors detect the position of the driver's door lock cylinder (lock and deadlock). When not activated, the two Hall sensors are ON and when activated they go to OFF. The order in which the two Hall sensors are switched to OFF indicates "Opening" or "Closing" This prevents:
- Automatic unlocking through accidental EMC interference (EMC = electromagnetic compatibility)
- Manipulated unlocking through targeted EMC interference
How it works
The locking mechanism can be moved by the motors to the following positions:
- Locking All door locks are in the locked condition. The exterior door handle is mechanically decoupled from the door lock. The interior door handle is mechanically coupled to the door lock. The door can still be opened from the inside.
- Deadlocking The locking pin in the door lock is mechanically decoupled through its coupler in the "deadlocking" process. A door cannot be opened using either its exterior handle or its interior handle.
- Unlocking All the door locks are in the unlocked condition. The exterior and interior door handles are mechanically coupled to the door lock. The door can be opened from the outside and from the inside.
