Removal & Installation

  1. Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS  . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM  under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM.
  2. Remove safety and information module. See SAFETY & INFORMATION MODULE  . Pull module catch down and unlock. Slightly pull central gateway module from carrier. See Figure . Disconnect central gateway module harness connectors and remove module.
  3. To install, reverse removal procedure. Perform appropriate coding/programming using proprietary BMW DIS tester as necessary. Activate air bag system. See ACTIVATING SYSTEM  under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM.
