52 17 020 Removing and installing/replacing seat frame on left or right front seat (comfort)

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2010 BMW 528xi, 2010 BMW 528i, 2009 BMW 528xi, 2009 BMW 528i, and 2008 BMW 528xi. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove front seat
Remove both rear panels on front seat backrest
Remove outer cover
E60 only: Remove actuating unit . See 61 31 203 REPLACING SEAT ADJUSTMENT SWITCH COMBINATION (FULLY ELECTRIC FRONT SEAT) .
Remove inner cover on front seat
Remove adjustment unit for thigh support
Remove backrest frame on front seat
If necessary, remove drive unit for active seat

Remove wiring harness (1) from seat frame (2).

Release rivets (1) on left and right, remove fastening strips (2) on left and right.

Release screws (3).

Tightening torque: 52 10 6AZ . See 10 FRONT SEATS .

Remove seat frame.

Installation:

When replacing backrest or seat frame, break off centering hooks (1) from seat frame.

The new seat frame part contains all the drives.
