51 24 150 Removing And Installing/Replacing Hydraulic Unit For Rear Lid Actuation (From 02/2003) (ELECTROHYDRAULIC-Fully Automatic)
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Have a cleaning cloth and an oil drip tray ready to catch emerging fluid.
- Read and comply with Notes on automatic rear lid actuation (electrohydraulic-fully automatic). See 51 24 ... NOTES AND INSTRUCTIONS ON AUTOMATIC REAR LID ACTUATION (FROM 02/2003) (ELECTROHYDRAULIC-FULLY AUTOMATIC) .
- Remove right luggage compartment wheel arch trim . See 51 47 161 REMOVING AND INSTALLING / REPLACING RIGHT LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT WHEEL ARCH TRIM .
Unscrew nuts (1).
Remove holder and pull out hydraulic unit (2).
Disconnect plug connections (3).
When removing hydraulic cylinder only:
Unhook cable holders (5) and feed out hoses (4).
Tightening torque 51 24 4AZ. See BODY EQUIPMENT - TIGHTENING TORQUES -- ALPINA .
Tightening torque 51 24 7AZ. See BODY EQUIPMENT - TIGHTENING TORQUES -- ALPINA .
When removing hydraulic unit only:
Detaching hoses on hydraulic unit:
Release banjo bolts (1 and 2).
Installation:
- Banjo bolt on hydraulic unit "RED"
- Banjo bolt on hydraulic unit "BLUE"
- Adhesive tape on hose is "red"
- Adhesive tape on hose is "blue"
Tightening torque 51 24 1AZ. See BODY EQUIPMENT - TIGHTENING TORQUES -- ALPINA .
Sealing connections on hydraulic unit and hose connections for hydraulic cylinders:
Hydraulic unit:
Use seal plugs from "Small parts for hydraulic unit"* set and removed seals.
Hose connections:
Use seal plugs with cap nuts from "Small parts for hydraulic unit"* set and removed seals.

Installation:
Always fit new banjo bolts (1) and seals (2 and 4).
- Hollow screw
- Upper seal (thin)
- Hose connection
- Lower seal (thick)
Check fluid level in hydraulic unit . See 51 24 660 CORRECTING FLUID LEVEL IN HYDRAULIC UNIT (FROM 02/2003) FOR REAR LID ACTUATION (ELECTROHYDRAULIC-FULLY AUTOMATIC) .
Installation:
Insert guide (1) into counter support (2).
If necessary, replace counter support (2).
