Removal & Installation

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 21 other vehicles, including the 2003 BMW M5, 2003 BMW 540i, 2003 BMW 530i, 2003 BMW 525i, and 2002 BMW M5. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Unclip inner trim and press downward out of headlight holders (1). See Fig 1 . Feed hook (2) out of outer trim and remove trim. On models manufactured up to 9/2000, disconnect all headlight plug connections and remove bolts. See Fig 2 . On models manufactured from 09/2000, disconnect all headlight electrical connectors. Remove bolts (2). See Fig 3 . On all models, remove bolts and pull headlights forward to remove. See Fig 4 .
  2. To install, reverse removal procedure. During installation, ensure bolts (1) with large diameter are at the bottom and bolts (2) with small diameter are at the top. See Fig 5 . Ensure rubber seal (1) is correctly seated. Mount trim (2) on installed headlight. See Fig 6 . If necessary, adjust hood protrusion over headlight lens.
