Removal & Installation

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 21 other vehicles, including the 2003 BMW M5, 2003 BMW 540i, 2003 BMW 530i, 2003 BMW 525i, and 2002 BMW M5. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove left/right screws and lift out wheel arch finishers (1) from side. See Fig 1 . Remove expansion rivets on left/right and remove grille (1). See Fig 2 . Remove impact absorber left and right bolts. See Fig 3 . On models with Park Distance Control (PDC) and/or fog lights, pull bumper back a little and disconnect electrical connection for fog lights and/or PDC. See Fig 4 . On models with headlight cleaning system, pull bumper back a little and detach lock and disconnect hose connection. See Fig 5 . On all models, remove bumper.
  2. To install, reverse removal procedure. The height of the bumper is adjusted by turning the socket head cap screw. See Fig 6 . For proper adjustment, distance "A" shown in illustration must be the same all around between the bumper and body cutout. Dimension "A" is .16-.24" (4-6 mm). See Fig 7 .
