24 00 ... Topping Up Fluid Additive In Event Of Friction Coefficient Fluctuations During Gearshifts From 3rd To 4th And 4th to 3rd (6HP26)

Special tools required: 

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

The following procedure applies to replacing 1 litre of ATF with 1 litre of LifeGuardFluid One additive.

BMW part number: 83 29 0 422 194

A distinction must be made here between transmissions with plastic oil sumps and sheet metal oil sumps!

IMPORTANT:

A sticker indicating that 1 litre of ATF has been replaced with 1 litre of LifeGuardFluid One additive must be stuck to the oil sump!

If a sticker is already attached, do not under any circumstance repeat the replacement procedure again!

WARNING:

Read and follow safety instructions on the bottle of the ZF LifeGuardFluid One additive.

  1. Transmission with plastic oil sump: 

    When engine is stopped, open 8 A/F transmission filler plug (1) and drain off 1 litre of transmission fluid.

    Catch transmission fluid in a measurement container.

    Start engine and allow engine to idle in with selector lever in P position.

    Pour in 1 litre of ZF LifeGuardFluid One additive with special tool 00 2 080. 

    Screw in transmission filler plug.

    Installation: 

    Tightening torque: 35 Nm.

    Attach the notice sticker supplied with the bottle to the side of the oil sump  next to the fluid filler plug.

    Then carry out a FLUID LEVEL ADJUSTMENT  to exclude the possibility of minimum filling.

  3. Transmission with sheet metal oil sump: 

    When engine is stopped, open transmission filler plug in dome of oil sump (17 A/F hexagon socket head cap screw) and drain off 1 litre of transmission fluid.

    Catch transmission fluid in a measurement container.

    Start engine and allow engine to idle in with selector lever in P position.

    Pour in 1 litre of ZF LifeGuardFluid One additive with special tool 00 2 080. 

    Screw in transmission filler plug.

    Installation: 

    Tightening torque: 80 Nm.

    Attach the notice sticker supplied with the bottle to the back  of the oil sump next to the fluid filler plug.

    Then carry out a FLUID LEVEL ADJUSTMENT  to exclude the possibility of minimum filling.
