61 12 002 Replacing Positive Battery Cable (From Battery To Luggage Compartment Connector)

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove luggage compartment floor trim panel . See 51 47 101 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT FLOOR TRIM PANEL
Remove trim on tail panel . See 51 46 050 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING TOP TRIM ON REAR APRON
Remove luggage compartment wheel arch trim on left . See 51 47 151 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING LEFT LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT WHEEL ARCH TRIM
Disconnect battery negative lead . See 61 20 900 DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING BATTERY NEGATIVE LEAD

Release plastic nuts (1).

Remove underlay for floor panel at rear left (2).

Remove underlay for luggage compartment floor panel (3).

Release nut (1) on battery positive terminal.

Tightening torque 61 21 1AZ . See 61 21 BATTERY WITH TERMINAL

Disconnect plug connection (2).

Disconnect plug connection (3).

Unlock cable lug mounting (4) and fold back.

Release nut underneath.

WARNING:

Risk of short circuits!

When installing, ensure:

Correct seating of mounting on cable lug for positive battery lead
Correct screw connection
Tightening torque 61 21 2AZ . See 61 21 BATTERY WITH TERMINAL

Unlock cable lug mounting (1) and fold back.

Release screw (2).

Tightening torque 61 12 3AZ . See 61 12 AUXILIARY CABLES/LEADS

Unclip cable lug mounting (1) from positive battery cable (3) and remove.

WARNING:

Risk of short circuits!

When installing, ensure:

Correct seating of cable lug mounting (1) on positive battery cable (3)
Correct screw connection
Tightening torque 61 21 2AZ . See 61 21 BATTERY WITH TERMINAL

Unclip positive battery cable (1) from cable guides (2) and remove.

Installation:

Make sure battery positive cable (1) is correctly routed.
