Removal & Installation

  1. Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS  . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM  under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM.
  2. Using Disassembly Aid (00 9 341), pry-out rear compartment fresh air grille and pull toward rear of center armrest. Disconnect connector and remove fresh air grille. Remove screws from front of center console right and left side panels. Slide each side panel down and forward, then remove side panels.
  3. From rear seat area, slide left and right rear center console side panels forward and remove. Remove 2 screws from right and 2 screws from left side of center armrest. Remove center console storage box mat. Pull coin box up and remove.
  4. Remove 3 nuts, located at bottom of rear compartment fresh air duct. Disconnect electrical connectors and raise armrest slightly, feeding connector out toward bottom. Lift off center armrest and remove from vehicle. Disconnect vehicle center sensor harness connector. See Fig 1 . Remove sensor mounting screws and remove sensor from vehicle.
  5. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten vehicle center sensor mounting screws to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Activate air bag system. See ACTIVATING SYSTEM  under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM.
