24 11 010 Removing and installing/sealing or replacing gearbox sump (GA6HP26Z)

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.

IMPORTANT: Remove transmission sump only after it has cooled down.
After completion of work, check transmission oil level .
Use only the approved gear oil. See AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION - OPERATING FLUIDS .
Failure to comply with this requirement will result in serious damage to the automatic transmission!

Release screws (1). Remove air deflector (2). Tightening torque, see 24 00 6AZ in 00 TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY .

Remove oil drain plug (1). Tightening torque, see 24 11 6AZ in 24 11 TRANSMISSION HOUSING, TRANSMISSION OIL SUMP . Drain automatic transmission oil. Installation note: Replace oil drain plug.

Catch and dispose of escaping gearbox oil.

Unscrew all bolts. Remove gearbox sump (1). Installation note: Insert screws (2) until screw heads make contact. Insert all further screws in diagonal sequence from inside to outside until screw heads make contact. Tightening torque, see 24 11 5AZ in 24 11 TRANSMISSION HOUSING, TRANSMISSION OIL SUMP .

Remove gasket (1) from gearbox sump. Clean gearbox oil sump to remove residual oil. Clean sealing surfaces with a cloth. Place new seal on gearbox oil sump. Important! Do not degrease gearbox sump with cleaning agent.
