51 13 305 Removing and installing/replacing left or right rail

Special tools required: 

Installation: 

Front cover cap: 

Slide special tool 00 9 340  centrally under front cover cap (1) and release catch.

Slide cover cap (1) forwards with a suitable tool.

Installation: 

Guides (1) and catches (2) must not be damaged. If damaged, replace cover cap.

Rear cover cap: 

Slide special tool 00 9 340  under rear cover cap (1) (observe position as per picture) and release catch.

Slide cover cap (1) back with a suitable tool.

Release screws (2) on rail (3).

Remove rail (3).

Standard Torx screw is only supplied if expressly ordered.

Installation: 

Replace screws (2) after each removal.

Tighten down screws to tightening torque 51 13 3AZ  , see 51 13 TRIM PARTS, COVERS, HANDLE TRIM .

Installation: 

Clean contact surfaces and seal (2) before installation, check for damage, replace if necessary.

IMPORTANT: Risk of seal (2) being crushed when rail (3) is screwed down. Make sure seal is installed in correct position.
