51 41 000 Removing and installing (replacing) front left or right door trim panel: Notes

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

Driver's side only: 

Front passenger side only: 

Position special tool 64 1 020 (as shown) behind securing pin for inside door handle (1).

Pry out rear latches of cover (2).

Open inside door handle (1), and at the same time pry cover (2) out further at rear.

Move gently up and down to disengage front latches of cover (2).

Remove trim (2).

Installation note: 

Latching hooks (1) of cover (2) must not be damaged or missing.

Installation note: 

Catches (1) and (2) must not be damaged or missing.

Installation note: 

Hold cover (1) in position and engage at rear.

Thumb pressure applied in handle recess (2) will engage cover (1) at front.

Driver's side: 

Release screws (1 and 2).

Tightening torque: 3 Nm

Front passenger side: 

Release screws (1 and 2).

Tightening torque: 3 Nm

Unclip door trim panel (1) from clips (2) with special tool 00 9 317 (wedge).

Carefully unclip door trim panel (1) at top from retainers (2).

Unhook Bowden cable (1) from door lock (2).

Disconnect all plug connections and remove door trim panel.

IMPORTANT: After each removal, all light blue clips (2) must be replaced.

Installation note: 

If necessary, replace faulty clips (1).

Fit all clips with sealing ring.

Make sure clips are installed in correct position.

  1. Grey clip
  2. Light blue clip

After assembling the door trim panel proceed as follows:
