34 35 513 Replacing a brake pad sensor (rear)

IMPORTANT:
The brake pad wear sensor must be replaced once it has been removed (brake pad wear sensor loses its retention capability in the brake pad).
If a brake pad sensor that has already been ground has to be replaced even though the minimum brake pad thickness has not yet been reached, you must observe the following: The new sliding contact must be filed down with a file to the same length as the ground sliding contact.

Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Partially detach rear wheel arch trim . See 51 71 041 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING REAR LEFT OR RIGHT WHEEL ARCH COVER .
Release fastening elements (1 to 3). Swing wheel arch panel (4) upwards.
Installation note: If necessary, replace defective retaining elements.
Open housing cover (1).
Disconnect plug connection (2).
Installation:
Ensure proper locking of the plug connector and proper seating of the cable in the brackets.
Disengage cable (1) along marked lines from holders.
Installation:
Ensure proper locking of the holders and proper seating of the cable in the holders.
Pull brake pad sensor (1) in direction of arrow out of brake pad.
Installation:
Make sure brake pad sensor (1) is correctly seated in brake pad.
Disengage cable of brake pad sensor from holders (2).
