32 31 070 Removing and installing/replacing steering shaft lower section (N63)

IMPORTANT: If the lower section of the steering spindle is separated from the steering gear/steering spindle middle section, the steering column switch cluster may be damaged when the steering wheel is turned.

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

Release clamping screws (1).

Push steering spindle (2) together and remove.

Installation: 

Clean thread to remove all remnants of screw securing adhesive.

Replace clamping screws.

Connect steering spindle first to steering gear and then to steering spindle middle section.

Clamping screw must rest in steering gear groove or steering spindle middle section.

Tightening torque 32 31 2AZ .

No kinking permitted!

After installation:
