61 31 342 Removing and installing/replacing gear selector switch

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Disconnect battery negative lead
Remove center console trim . See 51 16 160 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING CENTER CONSOLE TRIM (GEAR SELECTOR SWITCH) .

Release screws (1). Tightening torque, see 51 16 2AZ in 51 16 MIRRORS, FINISHERS, ASHTRAYS, CONSOLES .

Raise gear selector switch carrier (2) and disconnect all plug connections.

Remove gear selector switch carrier (2).

Remove trim for gear selector switch .

Release screws (1). Tightening torque, see 61 31 4AZ in 61 31 SWITCH .

Remove gear selector switch (2) from gear selector switch carrier (3).

Replacement:

Carry out VEHICLE PROGRAMMING/CODING .
