64 51 590 Removing and installing/replacing evaporator

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Withdraw temperature sensor (1).

NOTE: Disconnect plug connection (2).

Unclip linkage (3) at actuator drive.

Unlock and remove actuator drive (1) and disconnect plug connection.

Release screw (2).

Unlock plate (3) (see detail) and remove.

NOTE: Installation: First insert tabs (4).

Unclip wiring harness.

Twist cam disc (1) until microswitch (2) is unclipped and can be pulled off.

Release screws on blower housing.

Lift off blower housing (1) and feed out double pipe (2).

NOTE: Installation: Ensure correct cable routing.

Unclip clamps (1) and remove lower housing section (2).

Remove evaporator (1).

Only replace: Remove expansion valve (2).

IMPORTANT: Do not bend radiator fins.

If necessary, clean or straighten radiator fins with slat comb.
