11 71 501 Removing and installing/replacing exhaust gas recirculation valve (M57T2)

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Unclip Bowden cable for engine bonnet/hood actuator from transverse reinforcement (1).

Release screws on left and right sides.

Tightening torque, see 51 71 4AZ in 51 71 SEALS AND LOOSE BODY PARTS .

Remove cross-brace (1).

Unlock plug (1) and remove.

Unclip cable holder (5).

Unlock quick-connect coupling (4) on pressure pipe.

Detach pressure pipe from exhaust gas recirculation valve.

Pull off vacuum hose (2).

Release V-clamp (3).

Tightening torque, see 11 71 1AZ in EXHAUST-GAS RECIRCULATION .

Installation

Replace V-clamp (3).

Exhaust gas recirculation pipe must not be fitted under tension!

Joint all components loose first.

Secure V-clamps.

Then secure the adjoining components to prescribed tightening torque.

Release bolts (1).

Tightening torque, see 11 71 3AZ in 11 71 EXHAUST-GAS RECIRCULATION .

Remove exhaust gas recirculation valve towards front.

Installation

Clean sealing surfaces.

Replace gasket (1).

If the exhaust gas recirculation valve is replaced, it will be necessary to convert the THROTTLE VALVE .

Assemble engine.
